AEROSPACE NANO®

The partnership between Biwi SA and Richard Mille has led to the development of a material that uses the latest nanotechnology to provide unparalleled resistance and transparency: Aerospace nano® The nano-strengthening properties of this innovative material are generated during its production. Its elastic behaviour and natural water-resistance give it a silky feel and provide optimal comfort. The RM 56-01 strap has inaugurated a new class of materials.

LADIES' BRACELET

For the two new ladies' watches RM 07-01 and RM 037, Richard Mille has designed and created a completely new strap, entirely manufactured in gold. This strap, composed of dozens of links, requires 65 hours of programming and several days of manufacture and quality control, with each link delicately polished by hand. In perfect harmony with the lines of the case, it becomes an extension of the watch’s design, constantly evoking the curves of the bezel and the case back but also the characteristic spatial expression defined by Richard Mille's approach. Each link is micro-blasted, satin-brushed and polished. The ensemble is held together by 36 spline screws in grade 5 titanium and completed with a double-fold clasp in gold. As is true for every model, all finishing is entirely handcrafted. Comfort has always been one of the brand’s top priorities. Many years of development and testing concerning the development of this new strap has resulted in a very ergonomic fit that is a pleasure to wear. It is a combination of aesthetic appeal and perfect integration. The new gold Richard Mille strap is available in 5N red gold or 18K high palladium content white gold.

KALREZ®

This material was developed for tough environments such as scientific, research, aerospace and aeronautics environments requiring a superior degree of purity. Kalrez® effectively reduces absorption, desorption and products of extraction, ensuring minimal contamination. In fact, the perfluoroelastomer Kalrez® strap provides almost total chemical resistance, maintaining its properties at temperatures up to 327°C. Likewise, the strap’s composition allows for optimal watertight protection, synonymous with longevity, as well as negligible residual deformation, which gives Kalrez® its resistance to extreme pressures found in deep-sea conditions. But the strap of the RM 025 is just as resilient to the pressures of daily life, unlike traditional rubber straps which are notoriously weakened by heat, UV light, chemical agents such as cleaning products and bleach, even pollution... The strap is manufactured by Biwi SA, a Swiss firm specialising in the moulding of high-precision vulcanised elastomers like rubber and silicone, as well as technical plastics used in the manufacture of watchmaking components and medical parts. The use of Kalrez® material for this strap is the result of an exclusive association between the makers of Kalrez®, DuPont Performance Elastomers, and Biwi SA.
