HORLOGE DU QUEBEC
Christened "l'Horloge Porte-bonheurE", the project was launched in 2008 to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Quebec City, the largest French-speaking city of North America. The Republic and Canton of Jura and Richard Mille wanted to offer Quebec a symbolic gesture with a gift in the form of an exclusive creation that would be an emblematic expression of the canton's culture, know-how and activities. The clock was designed to embody the values and exacting standards of Richard Mille's Jura based manufacture, embodied by an incomparably modern design, unprecedented architectural construction and unique level of technical skills. It took six years for the engineers at Richard Mille, working in partnership with the technical college of Porrentruy and the Neuchâtel Haute Ecole Arc, to design, manufacture, and assemble this monumental clock. It is the first clock of its kind designed and made to the exacting standards and conventions of haute horlogerie. In this manner it required 6,571 hours of development, 5,451 components and 3,952 hours of assembly and adjustment in its realization. The stainless steel case recalls the dynamic, curved design of Richard Mille's iconic watch cases, yet it measures 350 x 250 x 130 cm, and weighs in at 1,913 kg. This extraordinary timekeeper ranks among the most consummately executed objects ever produced by the brand, which is understandable when you compare it to a watch: its components are between 300 and 500 times larger, and it weighs 100,000 times more than the RM 27-01 Rafael Nadal.
When it was unveiled at the 2012 SIHH, the RM 056 split-seconds competition chronograph sapphire, a limited edition of 5 timepieces, caused a shock-wave in the watchmaking world with its pared down purity, its movement with exemplary finishing and its case made entirely of sapphire crystal. Following this technical feat and determined to continue challenging the very limits of fine watchmaking, Richard Mille has created another exceptional piece for 2013: the RM 56-01 Sapphire Crystal. The RM 56-01 Sapphire Crystal symbolises all the expertise Richard Mille has accrued in showcasing a caliber through its sheer transparency. Because the machining of sapphire crystal is an extremely difficult process, the RM 56-01 is only available in a very limited edition of 5 timepieces
Bubba Watson is having an original style of play, which is atypical and very efficient in terms of power and precision. The idea of associating an elegant object featuring complex mechanics with the raw force that drives very long distances, to the inspiration from the world of golf, from its blend of duration, distance, the concentration of energy at the moment of the swing, and impact for a long-distance shot. A selection of materials that would guarantee ergonomic lightness and shock-resistance. The case is made of magnesium WE54 coated with Miarox® and the baseplate and bridges are in titanium. The latter are very long and span the movement from side to side, in a possible allusion to the shape of the clubs or trajectory of the ball. Numbered Limited Edition- available in Magnesium WE 54.
The technical-aesthetic credo of Richard Mille is to open up fine watchmaking to the worlds of art, sport and lifestyle, the purpose here was to tackle the archetype of very high watchmaking art, with performance as an added bonus. This model guarantees extreme performance over the long term : while current standards allow a variation in accuracy of 5 to 8 seconds per day, our specifications for this model demanded 20 to 30 seconds per month. These figures are quite simply exceptional, and indicate a truly extraordinary timepiece. The caliber RM 031 possesses the most advanced regulating mechanism in existence today. Equipped with a variable-inertia balance wheel and a direct-impulse escapement, the RM 031 High Performance guarantees an extraordinarily regular going rate. The movement has a variation of between 0 and 30 seconds per month, offering an accuracy that is four times superior to that of current movements. Limited edition of 10 pieces in platinum.
A high-level world-class tennis match can sometimes last for five hours, even more. The idea here was to bring a tourbillon into the arena that was capable of withstanding the shocks incurred for hours on end on clay courts, which can involve forces of several hundred G, while remaining totally comfortable and ridiculously lightweight (less than 20 grams): a real challenge for any tourbillon movement. Our existing designs in high-performance mechanics had to be entirely rethought and retested. The whole of its mechanical architecture, weighting just 3.8 grams, was skillfully designed and constructed in taut suspension on a network of shock absorbers anchored in the thickness of the case. Available in carbon. Limited edition of 50 pieces.
The RM 008 incorporates all the characteristics of the RM 004 chronograph, to which we added a tourbillon carriage made up of 85 parts and weighing just a third of a gram (0.34 g). Its assembly and regulation alone requires several months to complete. It's the latest model to carry the name of the Formula 1 driver, Felipe Massa, who test drives all Richard Mille watches. The RM 008 Felipe Massa has a baseplate in carbon nanofiber, split second chronograph and bears the colours of the Brazilian flag on its inner bezel and a red crown.
