A partner of the event since its inception in 2002, Richard Mille celebrates the Le Mans Classic by creating a new watch for each edition of the race. This year, the brand unveils the RM 11-02 Le Mans Classic, an automatic calibre in grade 5 titanium incorporating a variable-geometry rotor, annual calendar, UTC display, 24-hour flyback chronograph and countdown feature. The RM 11-02 LMC bears the colours of the historic competition not only on the movement, but also on its white ATZ ceramic caseband and the rubber collar of its NTPT carbon crown. Limited edition of 150 pieces.
From the design of its pushers, whose grooves recall the surface of vintage pedals, to the meticulously precision-machined crown reminiscent of a clutch mechanism by way of its baseplate, ribbed like an engine crankcase, the RM 11-02 is imbued with a passion for automobiles.
As a final reminder of the historic race, the Le Mans Classic logo appears on the dial at 12 o’clock along with the number ‘16’, an allusion to the start time of the endurance race.
OVERSIZE DATE DISPLAY Semi-instantaneous, placed in a green outlined horizontal aperture under 12 o’clock with automatic adjustment for months of 30 or 31 days.
MONTH DISPLAY Semi-instantaneous indicate with Arabic numerals, placed between 4 and 5 o’clock.
UTC FUNCTION The RM 11-02 features a UTC hand that can be used either as a second time zone indicator by means of a hand filled with Super-LumiNova. It can be easily adjusted using the pusher at 9 o’clock.
CALIBER RMAC2 Automatic winding movement with hours, minutes, running seconds at 3 o’clock, oversize date, month, Flyback chronograph with central seconds counter and minute countdown timer at 9 o’clock, 24 hour totalizer at 6 o’clock, UTC function and adjustable rotor geometry.
DOUBLE BARREL SYSTEM
The double barrel system helps to improve the torque stability over a longer period. This is achieved by dividing the stored energy within two winding barrels instead of one, thereby reducing pressure and friction on the teeth, the bearings and the pivots, resulting in improved long-term performance.
FREE SPRUNG BALANCE WITH VARIABLE INERTIA
This type of balance wheel represents the ultimate in innovation. It guarantees greater reliability when subjected to shock and also during movement assembly and disassembly, hence better chronometric results over time.
The regulator index is eliminated and a more accurate and repeatable adjustment is possible thanks to 4 small adjustable weights located directly on the balance.
